I'm probably going to buy one of the Ruger new 308's. One problem, however. I NEED to find the spent brass and I'd like to not spend all day doing it. Any suggestions?
I'd stay away from anything that attaches the rifle unless your okay with a malfunction or a piece of brass escaping every now and then. If that is unacceptable, I'd look at this: http://www.bubca.com/bubca-i-systems.html

Don't bother with those cheap catchers, you will not be happy. I've wrestled with a couple different ones and have never been happy. They cause failures, do not stay in place and you can forget about shooting and moving with them.
Get one of these and don't look back. Its been perfect and has not caused a single failure even while using it in a 3-gun match. http://www.tacticalbrassrecovery.com/ |
I'm almost embarrassed to admit this but one of the guys i shoot with uses women's stockings with a wire to keep them open and a hook that hooks over the top of the carrying handle. It's cheap and effective. Next time i go out i will take a pic if he will let me.
The cheap Caldwell strap on catch bag seems to work pretty well for me. I have a slim, smooth, free float modular handguard. The Velcro attachment band seems to wrap around it and hold the bag against the ejection port pretty well. As cheap as it is, I'd recommend giving it a try before rejecting it out-of-hand.
