I am in the market for a flash hider for my 16" BCM barrel.

I am NOT looking for a compensator or a comp/flash hybrid. Just a flash hider. AR15s kick light enough as it is.

What are the best ones and coolest looking ones on the market?

Rainier.

I just got my Smith Vortex and I like it as a hider very much but the Rainier looks cooler.

A good ol A2 ain't bad either

I've been happy with the A2, but I keep thinking about trying a BCM.

Any flash hider that makes flash virtually non-existent to the naked eye in the pitch black. These are the ones I can think of. I decided on using a B.E. Meyers 249F. Here is a flash hider comparison on Youtube.

Surefire SF3P-556-1/2-28
Smith Vortex
B.E. Meyers 249F
AAC Blackout

Silencerco trifecta looks like it could be good.

Doesn't have the annoying ping.

Cool mounting system for their saker supressor.

If you aren't going to mount a supressor I would stick with a GI birdcage....

I have had a bunch of them in the past 40 yrs

The GI will give you flash suppression and not kick up debris when prone compared to most others...and won't annoy people shooting on your flanks.

Pick a suppressor and buy mounts...

A2 for me until I find a muzzle device that does a better job of hiding flash AND reducing dust signature.

When my stamps come through, life will be better.  There are some pretty cool standard length flash hiders out there!

AAC blackout, either suppressor mount or otherwise.

Don't know why you are getting so many 'A2' responses. The A2 is more of a hybrid design. I guess guys are just recommending what they are running. The A2 is definitely not a great flash hider or a great break, it's a compromise.

I have tried the A2, the Vortex, and the Blackout.

Vortex and Blackout will work great at flash suppression from personal experience.

I'm sure some of the Surefire or YHM or others will work well too but I have no experience shooting those flash hiders in the dark.

In all fairness, the title of the thread is "Favorite Flash Hider"...

Yeah, I know he (I think I can assume an Army Infantry vet is a "he," as opposed to my usual preference for non-gendered pronouns ) also asked for "best" in the OP, he also asked about "best looking," too, though - it invites answers from all over.

I'm running a RRA tactical muzzle brake on my 18" varmit/coyote gun and a smith vortex on my 12.5"

The brake is awesome but it sure is loud and has a lot of concussion if you're not directly behind the firearm. The vortex is good quality but I think i might swap out for something else in the future. Just not sure yet!

AAC Blackout is my favorite.

The self-tightening characteristic of the Vortex is very handy and they also work very well.  They ring more than the Blackouts though.

Any of the pronged flash hiders.

The Surefire SF3P-556-1/2-28 is currently my favorite.

I will eventually pick up a BE Meyers as they are just about the best out there, but for now, I'll find a cheaper pronged flash hider that will get me most of the way there at a much reduced price.

I was going to get the Smith Vortex, but after all this business about that company suing a forum poster for a negative review, there's no way in hell they are getting any of my money, even if I'd of bought it through my local store.
