Lots of barrel threads lately. Read a ton of stuff on melonite barrels. I own one. It still has a low round count and I have not run it hard. I am not interested in how hard the research says it is, I am not interested in how is done or the different ways. (I've read most of it already). All I am interested in is people with round count numbers on their melonited barrel?? I know this will end up with anything but that but I want to know if anybody has pushed round counts to the envelope yet? I'll start it off. ARP 16" socom less than 1000 rnds.

| My barrel I use for testing different designs, has over 5500 rounds thru it. I sent it with one of my uppers to a class 3 who ran it FA for approx. 1500 rounds. Gas port looks as good as the day I drilled it. Rifling is as good as it was day one. It was gas Nitrided, not salt bath. I don't think I will wear it out. Craig |

Spikes 5.45 middy upper, 3 cases of surplus through it. Looks fine so far (but that's really not enough rounds to wear anything out). Knowing spikes its probably a 4150 blank. Don't know what type of nitro-carb they use but, whatever it is, it's VERY effective against corrosion. I think I've cleaned the rifle 4-5 times in ~16 outings. Not a spot of corrosion anywhere which is remarkable given that I'm shooting corrosive ammo... in Florida no less.
I'll get back to you after I have 10 cases through it
