1) the weld doesn't have to fill the hole, it just needs to keep the pin in.
2) if you are talking about bending the handguard cap a little...don't sweat it as long as your rail is secure. 3) if you want a 25/300 meter zero put it on 300 and shoot it at 25. if you want a 50/200 zero you need to shoot at 50 on 200 meters (or you could shoot on 200m at 25 and sight in your POI about 1.5 inches low IIRC). |
| My first build, around 1983, cost me over $600, all new parts and all bought "one piece at a time" at gun shows. And it took until about mid-1984 to finish it, too. That was one sweet rifle... Yours looks great, except as Taylor noted, the grip. If the grip wobbles, get a new one; your control of the rifle depends on the grip being solidly attached. Can you skip a few lattes and pony up $10 for a new one? |

Awesome thanks guys. Yeah that is actually athletic tape and it's there because there was some decent wobble between grip and lower. Take off your grip. and take a drill bit to the hole, and enlarge it a bit (or get a better grip). That should fix your issue. |

Don't take a drill bit to anything until you know what the problem is. Chances are if you do that, you'll make a problem worse. Worsen the problem on a $2 grip? It's a common occurrence with an easy fix. Sometimes grips do not have great alignment with the receiver, and the screw presses against the grips hole when tightened, leaving a small amount of space between the two items. Making a small amount of space alleviates this pressure. The only way you'll make the situation worse if if you complete enlarge the hole so much that the screw goes completely through it. |

I would look into the grip issue. That could screw up your selector switch. Your grip screw could be too long and bottoming out or you cross threaded the bolt and made it tighter then needed but never actually tighten down. There should be no wobble between grip and lower.
Other than that I really like the rifle looks good. |

That would work if its a case of a screw to long. It won't work for an out of spec receiver or grip. Quoted:

Gee, maybe an additional washer might work...you WECSOG guys make me laugh.. That would work if its a case of a screw to long. It won't work for an out of spec receiver or grip. But of course....but would it make more sense to start to try solve the problem the easiest way first before you start to butcher everything?? Why must everything thing be "out of spec"? |

The washer is in with the grip, and the grip is as tight as I am going to get it.
I'll need to go back and read but I think I am going to avoid drilling into the receiver Everything functions as it should in regards to the grip not being correct, i'll just pick up another and get it fixed up. Or try another washer. $220 uppers can be found when a friend gives you an extra $220 (I am paying him back) |
