I have a RRA Tatical Operator and want to take writing off the lower to put something else on it. Does anyone know how to strip it off with out losing the black anodizing on it? I would like not to have to tear all the way down and redo the finish on it.

Your hosed.... It's laser etched.. Try a sharpie. It's what I use to cover up excessive brand whoring.

The sharpie thing is the best bet. Or cerakote then have some thing new laser etched on. Or buy a new stripped lower and build another AR with what you want on the side.

I have had pretty good luck with using Alumablack to mute laser etching.

That works great on bare aluminum. It wont do anything to the white laser etching.

We've got a RRA Tactical Operator or whatever the hell it's called in the shop now. Those marking are hideous.

Just talked to guy in town that does cerakote. Not a bad price so I am going to take it down to them on Friday after work.

Just an FYI, you'll still see the engraving after CeraKote. Faint, but still there.

i feel strongly enough that i disassembled a complete .458 Socom upper i waited a year and a half for, dumped the upper, keeping only the bolt and the barrel.
it's gotta cost SOMETHING (even a nickel, SOMETHING) extra, why do it?

Just picked up my lower from my local cerakote dealer from bringing painted and it looks great. Can not tell at all that it had the writing on it.
