Just jumped into the Ar world.Got me a S&W model 15 OR.Good friend won it in a drawing and sold it to me for 800.00 cash.What the first thing Ya think I should get.My thoughts are Iron sights. And some Ammo.Thanks new to the forum.

Decide what you need based on your shooting experience with the gun in it's basic configuration with the factory sling. For me, that ended up being an aimpoint. |

Boy, that's no kidding! Sounds like the OP is on the right track. As far as the idea of "screw irons, just get an optic", screw that. Even my dead-reliable Aimpoint Micro once shut off on me (once), because I had failed to give the battery cap a oomph when I screwed it in. |
