Hey guys I am curious about something. If a firing pin were to break in an ar-15 during firing and you pulled the trigger after it broke, wouldn't the hammer drop on the bolt release just like lettin the hammer drop without the upper on the lower?

Depends on where the pin broke. If the tip broke the no. The pin would have to break between the 2 lips that are held in place by the cotter pin.... Or at least thats what it looks like.

Short answer: No. It would have to break, and then somehow fall out past the firing pin retaining pin. The one single time I have had one break on me was at the tip.
