I have an SBR (11.5" Noveske stainless) and a general purpose carbine(Noveske 14.5" LW stainless). And I'm going to build a third on a new Noveske Gen2 lower.
Debating if I want a precision oriented 16" Noveske, or even a nice retro upper build to be a truck gun. Have access to another MUR1a upper receiver, and an extra Leupold mkiv 4.5-14x50 as well. Or something else altogether? Just trying to decide what direction to go. Open to anything interesting and different from my current 2. |

Longe range. Variety is nice. I agree, and I've had a bunch. But it would be duplication, to a degree. My 14.5 Noveske lr is capable as far as 556 is. I agree. I think a 14.5" 556 gets you about as much as you possibly need out of the caliber. If you really wanted a 556 precision rig, I'd step up to the 18" Noveske SS barrel. Put an 16.7" NSR on there, and it'd be a badass setup. |

If I were set on putting together a longer range precision rig, I'd surely step up to 18" though. 16" 556 is a pointless length IMO. You gain so little going 16" over 14.5". |

I would agree about the 16" also. But it is handy because one doesn't have to tie up an SBR lower nor pin the muzzle device. |

I'd think pinning a can mount wouldn't be a choice you'd regret. |

I really despise duplication. I'm wanting something very nice, but different than my other 2. I'm more into quality than quantity. But the fact that my 14.5 is very capable at extended range makes me not really feel like a dedicated precision rig is needed. In a way, I kind of want a retro type upper, but I suppose that wouldn't be right on a Noveske gen 2, lol. |
