I have a Noveske switchblock gas system that is designed for a 18"  mid-length SPR, and I was wondering if I'd be able to put it on another barrel w/ a mid-length gas system?

You would need to drill a hole on the new barrel.

What would the hole be for? Is it because the gas ports wouldn't match up or for a set screw?

I doubt that gas block was just made for that barrel. As long as the dia. of the gas journal is the same, it should work on any barrel And any gas length system, providing you have the correct length gas tube.

I think he means it's pinned on.  So you would have to drill and pin it on to the new barrel.

The only differences in the many Switchblocks are..... pinned and set screw or clamp on, gas tube lengths, and some of the gas tubes have different sized holes for each position. The gas tubes are proprietary and designed specifically for the Switchblock. they are straight, no bends like a regular gas tube. I am using a SB on a 12.5" barrel that came off of an 11.5" barrel. Mine works fine and yours will probably work fine. If anything, you may need to go up one drill bit size on the hole in the tube that is for the non-suppressed position. Not a big deal and not worth spending another $185 to avoid doing.

ETA: Mine was from a pinned barrel. I dimpled the new barrel for the set screws, used blue Loctite, and never got around to pinning it. It hasn't budged.

Thanks for all the replies!

I thought it would work on any barrel as long as the gas system were the same length, but the directions were bugging me cause it said it was made for the 18" specifically. Glad to know it'll work on another build.

BTW, this is a clamp-on unit.
