Well I just saw the new Colt at a gun show this weekend....I played with it of a while and I see it doesn't have a forward assist or a dust cover...both of which I believe are a waste of money....I never liked the forward assist sticking out and know of no one that has ever really used it plus it wasn't in the original AR design.. I have a Pre Ban Colt 9mm and it doesn`t have it and as I said I dont miss it...And since I don`t run around in the desert what good is the dust cover anyway....
I like the smooth front hand guard and the small rails on the front to hold accessories....No sights and I dont mind that because with my eyes I need help anyway I never use them..... So... in as much some have to have these omitted items I think it`s a good since it`s hundreds less to buy it`s even better....If Colt keeps it in production they will sell many...I`ll be ordering one soon....Jim |

Maybe.....I never take my ar`s in the rain or snow and to be frank I don`t run around in the woods but I do clean them after I use them...I do have a few hunting rifles that are good for anywhere but my AR`s are range guns and if/when the SHTF... |

price? there're some good pics in the Colt forum and seems like receiver, bolt and barrel are not made by Colt. it's an interesting carbine but I'd hate to pay for the Colt name without getting Colt parts. The price was 1150.00.....Is there any definitive answer to whether Colt makes the 6900 or not?... I`m not purchasing until things settle down and if they don`t I guess I won`t be buying one....I have a couple of lowers that will come in handy....Jim |

I was excited too when I first seen the description of the LE6900 Light Carbine before the SHOT show and I was thinking that it would be a good plinker because I already have two 6920 carbines.
But when I learned the details that it might not have many Colt made parts and no chrome lined barrel I'm changing my mind now and eat a bunch more of ramen for lunch to save for another standard model 6920 to tuck in my safe while I still can buy it. $1150 is still a high price even in today's panic buying time, my local dealer's price on them are only $875.99 ($899.00 MSRP) whenever they get them in stock. Here's the thread link at the Colt industry forum. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_2_29/232021_New_Colt_Light_Rifle_6900.html |

None of the parts appear to bear any of the usual markings that Colt uses to designate internally manufactured parts. No "C" marks, markings engraved instead of rolled, Damage Industries stock, barrel does not have typical Colt markings/marking style. It don't walk, it don't quack. ~Augee |

Maybe they're subcontracted parts assembled by Colt. Colt has a long history of putting Colt-branded third party parts and accessories on their rifles; the Rogers stock is a good example.
That upper and lower look an awful lot like the S&W Sport parts. OP, there's a reason your 9mm Colt doesn't have a forward assist...it doesn't need one. |
|
I like how posts about how great the 6900s are are mostly how the Forward assist and dust cover are useless. Smacks of a long winded justification.
If all its going to be is a plinker where that stuff is a waste just do your self a favor and buy a 10/22. Dust doors are ONLY for use in deserts btw. |

Not a Colt Defense product. These sell for $859 at Sportsmans Warehouse in CO. The bolt is not fullauto and I doubt mil spec. The BCG is not staked properly and neither is castlenut. 1-8 Twist bbl. This is a commercial quality rifle made by someone else under license from Colt in all probability.
PASS. For an extra $200 or so you can find a 6920 if you look hard. |

Those dust covers are pretty pointless when your rifle goes straight from the case to over concrete
I wouldn't buy a Colt 6900 for two reasons... 1. they are not exactly quality weapons from what i have heard. and 2. I don't want colt selling a lot of these and thinking it is an awesome idea to whore out their name like that. |

it reminds me of early 90th's when it's fastionable and tons of people build their own PC's from components to tailor their needs, the reason was there weren't many options to buy factory new to exactly what people wanted, and now few people build their own computers anymore since you can buy whatever setup you want cheaper from companies like dell or HP among others.
my feeling is gun makers like colt are old school and slow to provide options to buyers, so everyone have to build and mod their guns to their liking now, but things are changing and eventually we can order whatever setup straight from colt or s&m, no more costly waste and custom cut and fix, and we don't have threads complaining a $2000 af15 pieced together from different vendors doesn't work reliably. i am glad colt listened to the public demand and provided more options to buyers, average joe can get a free floated 6900 straight from factory, is a good thing, you don't like it you don't have to buy it |

This is a gun manufacturer in Texas, using a licensed logo. It is not a 6920 with a menu of options, at a lower price point to appease the masses. I don't see this rifle being any different than what is available from Windham, S&W, DPMS, or Bushmaster. They all offer a rifle in that configuration. This rifle isn't made on the Colt line, so it isn't a Colt. We don't know what to make of its quality at this point. They may have just whored out their name, and it may backfire, who knows? As for this computer analogy, I can't tie it...but that is just me. |

So when SHTF it's ok for debries to get into your upper reciever as you run for your life, rack a round and squeeze the trigger, click, nothing happened because your bcg didn't lock up. Sounds like a part that costs 2$ could be helpful ;) |

It is not Colt made. It was a commercial product. And because of complaints. it was discontinued yesterday And you now have the latest Colt collectible!!! It can sit on a shelf next to all the "Double Eagles", the "All American 2000", and the "Pocket 9". (Not trying to knock the quality on those, but they were all limited release firearms that have become collectible due to their rare nature.) Lots of banter on here about this gun, but I have not read from anyone who has pulled a trigger on this rifle . . . ? |

dust cover is not that important, do we want to have a barrel cover as well? there's a big hole there to allow dust in, among others Yeah, and debris has a lot farther to travel when going down the barrel than it does going into the ejection port. Your argument is pretty invalid. |

I am new here, started reading up on the forumn because I won a Colt le6900 at a Friends of NRA Dinner, it also came with a Buronton Eterna Red Dot.
It has a 6 position Stock, No ejector Port cover, No foward assist, comes with a 20 round mag a Picatinny Rail for the upper and Quarter Rail for the Shroud, and a 16" barrel not sure the twist ratio I've read on line it is either 1 in 8 or 1 in 9. The Lower does have the Colt logo on it that is probably the only Colt piece on it. Not being an AR guy, yet, I couldn't tell you much about the BCG or anything else. My family an I put 200+ rounds through it over the past weekend without any cycling issues but we where using a bench with a tarp cover at our clubs range, which is out in the high desert of northern Nevada. My biggest complain would be the shroud. After about 5 rounds down range the smooth part of it gets hot and you have to hold the textured part. After a full mag of 20 rounds you need to either use a sand bag, wear gloves, grip the lower, or let it cool. I was thinking of getting a Quad Rail cover for it so I can place a bipod or foward grip on it as well, any suggestions? All in all I paid 100 bucks in raffel tickets for it and it is a great starter AR for myself. I also recieved 2 FMK stripped lowers so I will be building 2 guns off that. |

| I have pulled over 300 rounds without a hitch. While it does not have all the specs of all other Colts its still a well built gun. Internal components meet Colt specs and barrel is lined with 4140 instead of the 4150 thats normally Colts standard. Its lighter than my PSA and and the trigger pull is crisp. No complaints so far and it has NOT been discontinued!! Great buy for the money. |

| The rumor surfaced on several websites about being discontinued. I believed it started on the Colt forum and was later corrected. So i called Colt and they said all is good and the LE6900 has not been discontinued. Unless Colt lied or customer care has no clue, its just a rumor. |

Sure, it's not like Pat Rogers would have any idea.

Mr. Rogers was correct in saying the LE6900 has been discontinued for now. However, it was not because of complaints of quality but due to complaints to the Union of outsourcing to another company and factory. Thank goodness my company is not union driven!! Colt now has in stock the rails for the LE6900 and will continue to provide parts. |
