But seriously, in 3 gun, as with anything else, the more you do it, the more you will learn what works better. One shooter may have faster times using a heavy system, while another is more efficient with a light-weight setup. Which is "better" for 3gun is all about which makes YOU a better shooter. Use what you have, then play around with options and compare your performance. |

Some 3-gunners prefer the lightweight systems because they cycle more quickly and can have less perceived recoil due to lower reciprocating mass. These lightweight systems may require adjustable gas blocks to function at their best.
That said, plenty of excellent shooters do exceedingly well with standard BCGs. If you can dominate local matches with a standard BCG and feel a LW BCG is what's holding you back from success at a higher level, then consider buying one. I think you'll find that loading your shotgun, reloading your rifle and handgun, and other weapon manipulation tasks will hamper you more than the cycling of your rifle. IOW, wait until you buy one. |
