Got a DPMS Stainless Steel receiver in a trade and it's sitting in a drawer. I was going to build a target rifle with the receiver, I was told the SS was better for a match gun. I also have a LRB aluminum receiver. Which would be better for use in a bench gun used for target shooting? I was going to put a 24" White Oak upper on it. What are the SS receivers selling for, I only plan on keeping 1 receiver.
Posted Pic's, it has raised lettering and you can feel the difference in weight. It has a DPMS LPK installed with a Geissele NM trigger.
Thanks, Ken

The main reason I would choose the SS receiver over aluminum is strength and weight.  If you look at DCM type rifles, you see people doing everything to add weight, bull barrels, lead weights in the handguard, lead buttstock weights.

The heavier your rifle is, the harder it is to move around.  So the heavy rifle isn't as "jumpy" as a light rifle.  Therefore easier to swing over the target and place your shot.  I forget the actual numbers but the SS receiver is significantly heavier than the aluminum receiver.  The buttstock weight is about 3 lbs and I'm not sure how much the handguard weights are.  Extra weight makes it more difficult to stray off your shot.  Also makes the rifle kick like a .22 LR.
