Just shoot it. Keep it lubed up good. Clean it when it disgusts you.

Try to shoot only brass ammo. Steel casings will work for a little while. But it gums up the chamber bad, and its a pain in the ass to clean. Just shoot the crap out of it and have fun doing it!!!

NIB rack grade carbines

proving test. not a break in.

I like to shoot 500rds on the first day  Then the next another 500rds.

If it doesnt have any problems I  will use it for SD..

I dont clean it until after the 1000rds are fired.

Keep the carrier /bolt lube with oil and it should run a long time.

Ive found foriegn SS109 or 5.56 55gr Ball to be just as good.

Now a  high end match Grade SS barrel I would use the mans. advice.

I like the replies just shoot and keep well lubed!!!  Forgot one other thing... on the lower it says cal.  .223-5.56 and on the barrel it just says 5.56 if I understand things correctly this means I can shoot .223 and 5.56 thru my gun correct?

The barrel is marked with what the chamber is, yours is 5.56; you can still shoot .223 in it.

Yes, your GTG shooting .223 out of  a AR that is chambered in 5.56mm All my AR's are chambered in 5.56mm , but 5.56mm is all I shoot out of them.

Shoot whatever you want out of it.  Steel cased isn't bad.  What WILL happen is if you are rattling off rounds with steel cased ammo and you leave one in the chamber and then put your gun on safety and put it down and then come back to it, even over 30 seconds or a minute, whatever, you will have a stuck case.  So the next round you fire will shoot but then fail to extract.

If you're slow firing you won't run into this issue.  If you're mag dumping you will.

I read over 30 threads on steel casings yesterday.  You made it a lot more clear in three lines.

.223 ammo is hard to get, and I got a good buy on 200 rounds of Russian with steel casings.
I feel better about using it now,

Shoot slow, or empty chamber before stopping.  Right?
