I took a buffer out of one of my lowers today and noticed a thick semi clear substance covering it and the spring around it. I'm going to take a guess and say the buffer is leaking correct?

Unless its a hydraulic buffer then no.  The only thing inside a normal buffer is 3 weights and rubber pads that seperate them.

If you store your rifle butt down it is likely just lubricant that ran into the buffer tube and coated the buffer and spring.

Yea and it is actually better to have some lube in this area than for it to be dry.

But no there is no liquid or anything like that inside the buffer.....you can actually punch the roll pin out of the buffer and take it apart so you know what mysteries are found inside

It's a brand new rifle that hasn't even been to the range much less oiled. I'm guessing noveske slapped on a bunch of grease before sending it out. Good to know.

I hadn't thought of this. Totally slipped my mind.

Oh yea thats a different story.  I would actually clean that stuff out of there then.  Thats probably a storage grease(in case it sat on a shelf somewhere)not that a noveske rifle would lol....but its probably not a good lubricant.

Haha...Fair enough.  It looks great BTW...

BTW if you didn't notice Novekse release 14.5" Lightweight stainless barrels.  Of course they sold out in about 10 minutes but at least they're available now.

I saw that earlier. If I wouldn't have bought a buddies bcm upper I would have bought one. I also noticed they finally released their infidel barrels. I had an infidel upper and sold it and really want another one. Everyone seems to hate them but I'm drawn to them for some reason. I'll get a lightweight stainless one of these days.

I'm tossing around the idea of picking up a Infidel barrel but pinning a B.E. Meyers FH on it instead of the KX3.  Of course the fact that I have 3 builds that still need finishing is really holding me back...
