Hey guys-
I started a new build a while back. I have a Noveske Gen2 Lower that I wanted to build a Recce upper (sorry Augee- 16" Upper) for. I was able to get my hands on an VLTOR MUR-1 upper. Here's the issue- when I slap the upper on the lower, I can get the front TDP to slip right in, but the rear TDPwon't budge. It's almost like the upper (or lower) may be out of spec. I can't tell with my naked eye where its getting hung up at. Should I shave the TDP down, or are there other options? I appreciate your feedback. I'll snap some pics this evening when I get home. |

Try a known good standard upper to see if it fits? If the standard upper fits, then you know that your upper needs a bit of work.
If the standard upper receiver lugs do not line up with the takedown pins from the lower receiver... 1-Could be the rear upper flats of the lower receiver. Right where the buffer tube screws into the receiver, there is a slight curve in the shape of the lower receiver. Sometimes that angle or even the flat areas directly above the safety selector are now milled completely where needed. 2-Could be the lower receiver has not been completely milled deep or wide enough where the upper receiver (rear lug) is supposed to fit. 3-Could be the take down pin locations have not been machined in the exact spots needed, resulting in the pins being slightly farther apart than required. Lots of stuff that could be ever so slightly off, in either the lower or upper, could be the one thing to stop them from fitting. For example, Rock River upper/lowers are known for being very tight and some folks have "fitted" them by a smack with a dead blow hammer. Just trying to give you an idea of what to look for.... http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_66/282974_Why_won_t_my_new_upper_receiver_lock_close_on_my_new_RRA_lower_receiver_________.html If the standard upper receiver does not fit, return the lower back to the manufacturer to be fixed. They can make it right. |
