So I was taking inventory today of my ammo and I stumbled across a box of 10 PMags that I must of forgotten about. Anyway, I'm not sure which generation they are. Is this a gen 2? TIA.

Yes, it's a Gen 2 (looks like a Rev M or later). Magpul has a forum here, FWIW.

The Gen 3/M3 mags have an over-insertion stop on the spine.

Incorrect.  It is generation 1

Generation 1 has the warning about using the dust cover when storing loaded, lacks the ability to store the dust cover on the other end of the mag and many other differences.

Doesn't appear to be a 2nd gen to me. I noticed that the lettering on the right side (if mag is in the rifle, from the shooter's prospective) has lettering different than my 2nd gen. I also saw that the bottom plate on mine have the M02 printed on the bottom of them and the text on the left side of yours is oriented longways instead of horizontally. Hope this all makes since. Doesn't match my 2nd gen PMAGS so I would assume it is not one, but I could be wrong.

OK thanks all. If this helps, the mag cover will NOT fit on the bottom. I can't remember if Gen 2 or Gen 3 was the first to allow you to place the mag cover on the bottom.

Those are Gen 1. No doubt about it.
Among other things, the number of horizontal ribbings on them is different between the different gens.
As noted, the writing on them is different, the floorplate has a bump on it where the vert. rib goes underneath (although the bottom of the magwell is confusing me a little), and the mag body is missing the notches which enable the dust-cover to clip to the bottom.

10 mags you didn't know you had. That could be a profitable find.

+1 I'm positive that those are gen 1 PMAG.

Gen 2 have 4 horizontal ribs and the ribs don't stick out as much as gen 1, gen 2 are also marked M on the floorplates and followers, the window on the gen 2 are wider and taller - the top of the window is higher at the top horizontal rib, and there are mounting notches for the dust cover at the bottom of the body.

My gen 3 are marked "Gen M3" at the top right side, it have the rear nub to prevent passing the bottom lip of the magwell, 4 horizontal ribs, front and rear horizontal serrations outside the magwell area, indentations at the bottom sides for ID marking, no dust cover mounting notches, and narrower floorplates.

Even if they're gen 1 it's nice to have some extras.

That is Gen 1.  I have 10 of 'em.  What is the date?  Mine are Nov/07
