So last night I was inspecting my brand new BCM 16inch mid-length upper and it looks like on the left side of the barrel (if looking in from the muzzle) has a part of the chrome lining that is lifted from the rest of the chrome lining as in it appears to not be bonded with the inside of the barrel. Is this a common thing or is this a rare case of an out-of-spec barrel? I tried taking a picture but its about 4 inches into the barrel (from the muzzle end) and won't come out very clearly. And no it's not the gas port I'm referring to because that would be on the top of the barrel.

Try using the marco settings on you camera.  Would not say is the plating is has flaked or not until you post pics. Did you clean the barrel yet?  The only why I could say is that need to use a borescope.
