I was just wondering what people do about the gap behind the trigger guard.  I am aware of the piece some people refer to as a gapper and I know certain trigger guards like Magpul eliminate the void.

I've considered getting some black epoxy and fill in the back portion of the trigger guard so that if I'm temporarily doing a one hand hold on the rifle that the bottom of the receiver isn't digging into my middle finger.

I personally haven't ever had a problem. Epoxy would work. Maybe throw some athletic tape around that area as well for something a little less permanent.

It obviously depends on what type of shooting you are doing, but all those hot, sharp edges, nooks and crannies are why people shoot with gloves on.

You have tons of options available.

You can always change out the trigger guard to a magpul and that will eliminate the gap.

Stick a foam ear plug in there.

The rough "M4 callous" on the middle finger is the sign of a shooter.

Just like guitar players that develop callouses on their fingers - the idea is to practice enough until you've adapted to it.

Barring that - the Gapper, MagPul trigger guards, Tango Down or Duckbill aftermarket grips will all work to rob you the appropriate marks of a well practiced shooter.

Don't forget to put a tube of moisturizing lotion in your pistol grip storage, either.

Do they make a end cap for the grip to hold the lotion?  Where do you keep the tissues?

The magpul grips do come with and the older ergo grips came with plugs...there its also aa2 group plug made by dpms too...

I am serious of their existence, not their utilization...

ETA: I use gappers or magpul trigger guard or nothing depending on the build, and how many of what I got from various trades and misc bulk purchases... I would not actively buy them , though.

I hear MagPul is coming out with a line of men's toiletries, to include hand lotion, body wash, shaving cream, toothpaste, deodorant, and hair care products.

Edit:
They've already penned the endorsement deal with J. Bieber.

When I ran A2s I let it be, and never really noticed, one handed or otherwise, but then my hands get beat to shit in my daily life, so I'm not terribly apt to notice it. I have since switched to MIADs and got Magpul triggerguards at the same time, which eliminated the non-existent (for me) problem.

I can definitely notice it bare hand. That gapper from Ergo will work although I never bought one. 99.9% of the time I shoot with gloves so I don't notice the gap

Thanks everyone.  I do have an A2 grip plug that will allow me to install a chapstick size lotion.  I was also given a small several use roll of camo toilet paper that i can fit in my A2 stock along with my eyelash curler.
