I have money ready to blow on another mid-length upper, but need a little help. I will be buying PSA. I do not want a light profile barrel, but not really after a heavy either. I want a government profile, is this the same as "A2 profile"? Im pretty sure all of their barrels are chrome lined bore and chamber and have M4 feed ramps which is what I want. What I need help on is the other barrel options I can't really sort through. Can someone explain the differences between CMV steel and CHF steel barrels? And mag particle inspected? What are the pros and cons of each/which is more durable?
Thanks for any help |

i have a PSA middy upper and it's their standard profile barrel, which i would describe as government profile (slimmed down behind the handguard).
As for steels, I don't know for sure if this is accurate but I think it is more or less correct. CMV is "regular" barrel steel, CHF is a process that makes it harder and last longer. Also, PSA's CHF barrels are made by FN, so I'd go for those (thats what I have and it's great). Magnetic Particle Inspection is just an advanced way to manage quality control on barrels, bolts, etc. Basically it means you got a good barrel. |

I've got a PSA midlength, its CHF particle inspected, m4 ramps..all that good stuff..it's a heavy barrel 1:7 twist...it shoots like a dream! You got a Cold Hammer Forged heavy profile barrel? What was the barrel length and how long ago was this offering if I may ask? I am very interested in getting a 16 inch in that profile. Thanks. Most of my PSA rifles are mids and are totally reliable. I think the A2 profile looks to be the same as Government profile barrels. |

They show in stock, that means 15 or more working days to build. I added a CORE15 NiB BCG and charging handle. Found a good deal on the used GRSC 1-4 m4-62 scope. Only a few hundred rounds fired but it seems to be as accurate as anything I own. |
