I don't see Loki talked about much on here. What's everybody think about them? I've been looking at their 3 gun AR in particular but they have a lot of nice stuff, including both forged and billet models and they all offer a lot of options. This billet MOE seems particularly awesome.

LOKI? LOL - I was thinking of The Avengers - that great scene with Loki and The Hulk. HAHAHAHAHA!! Clicking that link, their stuff looks pretty good - their complete lower sounds really good. Didn't mess with that "expose" stuff about the company - I'd check for very recent reviews. Thanks for being part of AR15.Com! |

| I came across that forum on Brian Enos a couple days ago. Definitely seems sketchy. Seems like every AR company is backed up right now. They seem pretty popular in the competitive world. Since most of Arfcom are Tier 1 operators I'm not surprised that Loki isn't that popular. |

That's your prerogative but if I were interested in purchasing from them such as the OP suggested then I would definitely take these issues very seriously that others are currently having with LOKI. These are recent issues also, as in the last week type of recent..... |

Might want to check this out....... http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=163998#entry1827034 I have following this thread also, it sure appears that Loki has self destructed! At this point there is no way in hell I would send them any money! Not answering their phones (Including the owners personal cell phone), not returning voice mails, not responding to emails for WEEKS, etc. |

It appears Loki is now officially out of business! The owner cited ATF issues, problems with a business partner, parts supply issues, etc. Wow. Seems like they left a lot of people hanging. Got a link to an article or something? Three page thread and getting longer: Loki Here is a quote, the original poster HEAVILY edited it later but someone had already quoted it, so it is still there for viewing: "Update on my situation: Erik did contact me today through a text. I'm not going to post the entirety of it here, but to paraphrase... He feels bad about the way his business ended, but problems with the ATF, his business partner, and his suppliers caused the situation we are all in now." |

I purchased a Loki upper [16" mid length] ~ a year or so ago. It has been a very good upper. Capable of 1" MOA. Absolutely no issues. I am really surprised to hear about their problems, . . . though a part of me kinda understands. It is probably pretty hard getting firm in the market with so many other excellent companies already out there. I was fortunate to get mine when they were offering it on sale.
I'll be following this thread as well as the other. |

Do not buy from Loki they are having some problem or going bankrupt. I have yet to receive an upper after 5 monthes. Loki never replies to phone calls or emails. Also they removed their Facebook page because numerous people have not received what they have ordered and most are in the process of trying to get their money back via their Bank or Credit Card. Also check out this link http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=163998. It has some of the disgruntled customers. The word needs to get out on Loki because apparently they are still taking orders and not suppling products. I put a post on here about a week ago to make people aware of the problem without calling Loki scumbags. When you look on the web there are nothing but positive responses on Loki. Unfortunetly one of the mediators on this forum moved the post because they said it was in the wrong place. The post I did was more to see who else was having the same problem but I was trying to be polite. I called my bank and was able to get the money back. Hopefully this Forum would put a post up to inform people about the Loki situation so no one else has a problem.

Yea I saw that post. Hardly official. Could be true but it's just some guy on the internet so who knows. That's funny, yeah I guess "some guy" could randomly start a thread about an issue with LOKI with no basis to back it up???? Actually in this case, the OP in that thread is a personal friend of mine and his issues are 100% true, of course I could be just a random guy posting this as well. Go ahead and buy from them, maybe then you can be that "guy" that makes unofficial posts about issues with LOKI then. |

I have a Loki billet patrol rifle. I have had no complaints during the 1000 or so rounds I have put through it.
I just read that the company is out of business and has the above listed problems. Obviously with the company gone there would be no warranty coverage if something went wrong down the road. Would the consensus be to sell it and use the funds to buy a replacement from a more stable company or keep it and roll the dice on the warranty issue? |
|
bird (AR) in the hand beats 2 maybe can't get.
if you're that worrried, i'd recommend buying the replacemnet first THEN selling the LOKI. do it the the other way, you might be a while replacing it. as far as a warranty, i'd pay them (anyone) to stay away from my rifle. but thats me, not you. |
|
I agree. Better to keep the Loki [which can have things replaced if broken] then selling it and not being able to find a replacement.
I have no issue with the Loki upper I have. Not much can go wrong, and if something does, it is milspec, so I can have it fixed. |
|
Thanks for the input, that is the way I was leaning as well, but finding out the company that built your $1,500.00 rifle went out of business can cause a little bit of a panic reaction.
The rifle is billet, not forged, so it isn't milspec, but hopefully it holds together. Like I said, no complaints as of yet, and when I did have questions or concerns Erik was very prompt and helpful when I emailed him after receiving it. |

I would sell it right now on Gunbroker, and piece together something that will have warranty in time with the proceeds. |

Why in all holy heII would you get rid of a perfectly operable weapon?
LOL, they went out of business because the ATF shuttered the facility and froze their assets due to a transfer rule infringment, not due to a failure of their work,,,I wouldnt call that rolling the dice, LOL |

Maybe on individual parts, but sometimes you need someone to figure out what's wrong to understand what part is defective. Usually the lower is never the problem, it's almost always a problem in the upper. So if you were really concerned with warranty, you can sell just the upper and buy a new upper with a warranty. But if you hadn't had any troubles in 1000 rounds, i wouldn't worry about it at all. You're GTG. You can invest in some spare parts like a new bolt, extractor, springs, gas tube, firing pin, firing pin retainer cotter pin, some roll pins and stuff, and if something doesn't work, just take it to a local AR friendly gunsmith with your spare parts. Damageindustries is a reputable supplier of spare parts and they have kits available on their website. They are a major small parts manufacturer for many of the name brand AR's. |
