I have a Stag Arms 16" upper with a regular front sight gas block and I want to be able to mount a bayonet on it. Just because.
It is my understanding that the distance from the gas port to the muzzle is longer on a commercial 16" barrel than a 20" M16 or a 14.5" M4. Is that correct or is there a bayonet that works? Thank you. |
Not mine but this pic from quarterbore shows how a 16" with a carbine gas system does not properly fit a M7 or any standard bayonet
This pic from m9bayonet.com shows how a 14.5" M4 barrel carbine gas system properly fits a M9 bayonet
My 16" midlength gas system carbine fits fine with my M7 and USMC OKC-3S bayonets
My 20" USGI M16A2 Colt rifle gas system barrel on top fits my USMC OKC-3S bayonet and below is my 16" carbine gas system LMT with an extended handle M7 bayonet which are very hard to find now
Here's another sample of an available extended bayonet handle which are Colt marked Eickhorn Solingen bayonet from PreBanArms.com ($219.95) pic by member _DR (see archive thread link below for ref.) http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=394263 Also as said before a barrel bayonet lug adapter could be clamped on the barrel at front of the front sight of a 16" carbine gas barrel. |
