Question for the collective.  I've got around $2000 I can play with.  Would you rather have a higher-end DI AR (Daniel) or a more mid-range gas piston (Sig516 / Sig716) for the money?  I've been leaning towards the Daniel since they - from what I've seen - have a better pedigree but there have been no shortage of compliments paid to the Sig platform.

Thoughts?

If I had $2000 to play with I'd buy another PredatAR and turn it into a dedicated 22lr.

If I didn't already have a PredatAR then I'd buy one

I would get another Noveske Afghan

DD all the way for me.

I have no interest in a piston rifle for one. And second, DD's are top tier quality and crazy accurate.

In the same boat, got a sig 516 in FDE instead of a DI, I wanted a piston for suppressed shooting, and general ease of cleaning. I have a buddy who's DD upper he got is very very picky on the ammo shot through it. 55gr gives him a 5-6 MOA group with a 1/7 twist. We think this has to do with the QD flash hider that may not have been properly installed. Just my .02.

DD, Spikes (if you can find one). LaRue, Noveske, BCM

Gotta be the FH or something. I own 2 factory DDs, and a Seekins build with a DD barrel. My plinking ammo is 55 grain PMC Bronze. They all shoot 1-2 MOA at 100 yards with it.

Yes. You could step up to LaRue or Noveske, but won't have funds leftover for optics, ammo or accessories.

I'd take either one, but maybe a sig M400 instead and spend the other 1000 on an aimpoint micro and ammunition.

Unless you're going the SBR and/or heavy suppressor use route, no reason to get a piston. YMMV.

High-end DI.

DI. For $2k I'd get the DD and optic if thats the only brand you want.

Thanks for the input thus far.  DD is not the only brand I'm looking at but is the preferred choice so far.  I've been looking at LMT also but a lot of their stock is now showing a 24 week delivery estimate.

I've got an EOTech from one of my other rifles that's going to be donated to the new AR.

I wouldn't put Spikes and BCM on the same level as LaRue and Noveske.

Remember the Sig 716 is .308, but if that doesn't bother you I say go for it.

Go high end first.
Use tax refund to fund second project.

It depends which g p system you want to buy.  AA seems to have a large market share.
Or you could pick up a gp dedicated upper and just slap it on the high end lower.

Get the LMT. Dealers have them in stock.
