What is the best trigger for a benchrest AR? Would go in a Colt Accurized Match Target 6724, not my rifle, so not sure of the pin size.

Probably one of these: http://geissele.com/hi-speed-2.aspx

Agreed....then again if you want to bench rest pick up a nice bolt action

Geissele match rifle hi speed.

Be sure to verify pin size. I forgot the cut off year, but if you know when the rifle is made you can figure it out, or just use some calipers.

RRA 2-stage or Geissele triggers.

I've had the JP (great single stage trigger), a Jewell 2 stage, LMT 2 stage (pick 'em on the EE for $100), Bushmaster 2 stage and the Geissele SSA, SSA-E and the High Speed.

Today I have Geissele SSA, SSA-E and the High Speed in everything. Of the bunch I think the SSA-E is the most logical choice.

I'm buying the trigger as a gift - not my rifle. Does anyone know whether a Colt CAR-a3 built in 2008 have a small or large trigger pin group.

While I like my RRA-2 stage its no bench rest trigger..... On a budget for a groundhog/coyote gun they work great though but not as much improvement as I expected over a good factory colt single stage.

I'm thinking Large.

Timney 3 lb. trigger.
Single stage, super short pull, crisp break.

Awesome on a BR rig.

+1 on the JP and Geissele recommendations

Single stage - JP
Two stage - Geissele

Just checked my RRA 2 Stage, 2# to take up the slack, additional 1# for crisp break.

Geissele Hi-Speed National Match match trigger. Two stage trigger with a total pull weight of 2 lbs., and a 4.2 ms lock time. 2nd stage can be set to 6 ozs. with a break adjusted as crisp as you like.

The SSA-E is an incredible precision trigger. I'd find it hard to believe you could find better.

I have an SSA-E Geissele and a couple Jard triggers. The Geissele is smoother (no grit where the Jard has a tiny amount) but the Jard is decisively lighter.

My benchrest AR will continue to have the 1.5# Jard, although it registers 2# on my scale (Geissele is 3.5 on same scale).

For those saying 2# is too light, it isn't for a bench only gun.
