Lately I've been hearing about this lately but it's new to me.
Can someone explain to me what exactly is the 223 Wylde chamber? How does it differ from 223 vs. 5.56 etc.? Can you use 5.56 headspace gages or is there another set available for it? Is it better? I apologize if this has already been covered in a previous thread. I looked around a little but didn't see it. |

The Wylde freebore (leade) is actually longer than both .223 and 5.56
Freebore diameter is similar to match .223 and tighter than 5.56 Here's a chart that shows the dimensional differences between the variants : 
Does not affect headspace since headspace is a dimension taken from the bolt face to a datum line on the shoulder. |

I have one and I must say it's one of the more accurate AR's I've shot. The basics that you need to know is it handles both 5.56 and .223 and will shoot either more accurately than a NATO 5.56 chambered firearm. (All other things being equal. And by 'more accurate' we're talking about small differences here.)
But, reading between the lines, I believe that a Wylde chambered AR will theoretically be LESS accurate shooting .223 ammunition than a gun specifically chambered for the Remington .223 cartridge. Because the .223 Remington chamber is the tightest of all. |

Didn't know that, something new everyday-Thanks! The reason for the long freebore is so that longer-than-mag-length match cartridges can be single-loaded. It's a sort of do-all chamber. |

rra is the only wyde chamber maker I know it is designed to be safe with both nato 556 & remington 223 commercial loads RRA is not a barrel maker. They use Wilson Arms barrels. It doesn't matter who the barrel maker is, if it's a Wylde chamber it will safely digest both .223 and 5.56 ammo. |
