I'd like a new fire control group for my HD SBR. I don't want a match trigger, just something simple, reliable and affordable.

basic milspec FCG

or you could one up that slightly and get the ALG ACT.  it starts life as a milspec forging and gets worked over by Geissele and then a coating of nickel boron added to it.  much smoother than the typical milspec parts-kit trigger but still just as reliable.

Right? Look, I can find FCGs, I just want to hear what your opinions are. For example, I'm not fond of DPMS but I suspect that they get those parts from the same place that many other manufacturers get theirs from.

That's what I was leaning towards.

You may want to give the above mentioned ALG trigger a shot, but for a mere $10 you can get a JP Enhanced Reliability spring kit.  Heavy hammer spring, lighter-than-stock trigger spring.  The heavier hammer spring makes it so that you still ignite primers, and the lighter trigger spring is rather self-explanatory

I posted on this in another thread yesterday, and I will say it again.

There is no better way to spend $10 on AR accessories than a JP spring kit.

par3, that is exactly my thought. There are at least 3 threads on triggers on pages 1 and 2.

NiB Spikes FCG

That is what I have in my HD rifle.  It is smooth and breaks clean about 5-5.5#.

You sure about that? I saw two threads on the second page about triggers. One is about the merits of one match trigger vs. another and the other thread is about troubleshooting a problem. Neither are relevant.

If you're not interested in posting an opinion about which standard FCGs are the best value, that's fine but this isn't GD. If you want to link to a thread that is relevant, I'd appreciate it.

Apologies man. Answering your question, I tried Geissele SSA and now I have one for each lower, well worth the price - best gift you can give yourself for your AR IMO.

Here are some recent threads that might help.

I wasn't looking for anything. It I'm going to give this a try. Thanks

Geisselle triggers.  I think I'm up to 5 or 6 of them in my rifles now.  They've spoiled me lol.

Yes, those first two are the ones I was referring to and I didn't mention the spring kit thread because that's not even about triggers, but just trigger springs. I dunno, maybe there's a post or two in there that is relevant but I'm too lazy to sift through it to fine them.

Sine you're like me, and price is an important factor, the Spikes Battle Trigger or ALG ACT.

[#16]
If you have a decent milspec fcg, an ALG ACT won't be worth the difference.  I have a DPMS with thousands of rounds, ok, somewhat smooth, JP springs brought it to ALG niceness.  The ALG ACT trigger I got was maybe, maybe a hair better but not worth the extra money.  I would go Geissele or JP depending if you want two or single stage respectively.  The JP EZ is a milspec just with a couple set screws built in to adjust creep and over travel, very easy to do.  If you take your time the JP will have the shortest trigger travel and zero creep when adjusted.

The ALG Defense Combat Trigger is a great affordable trigger.
