| My Dad recently bought him and I consecutive serial numbered Colt 6920 Socom II. Problem is I know nothing about this rifle or ARs in general. I'm familiar with handguns, other rifles, and shotguns but this platform is new to us. Can anyone tell me what kind of rear sight, stock, and how to install the sling that came with it. I see nowhere up front to loop it. Do I need to buy an extra part for this? Also is it possible to mount a bayonet? If so any info on where to get info on that. Here's a link to the exact rifle. http://www.ratworxusa.com/pagDetail.aspx?SKU=RW-Colt-LE-6920SCMII sorry for the newb questions but I just want to get up to speed on this and start enjoying the AR world. Thanks in advance for looking. |
| Thanks a lot for the feedback. I hadn't intended on the bayonet just curious about it. Ammo, mags, and some serious shooting are in the near future. The mags that came with it were sealed in a package but when I put them in and pull the charging handle back I get a gun powder smell. Does Colt provide used mags? They also had a ton of scratches. A optic is in the distant future but will be nice. I want to be proficient with irons first. |
| That's a nice carbine! I doubt the mags are used, they are probably slightly scratched from handling. I think Colt does test fire every one of its guns before shipping. The smell may just be metal to metal contact, since the internals may not be lubed sufficiently, I get that smell sometimes from working the action on an upper that's never been fired. |

Thanks Duffy. That was my thinking too. I plan on giving it a good initial cleaning soon. Currently have two shotguns fully disassembled taking up my work area |

Thanks in advance for looking. The buis is a Matech 600 meter. It folds up or lays down out of the way. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v508/500magnumnut/gun%20room/matech.jpg It doesn't have a bayonet lug, so you can't mount a blade. Unless you add a lug of course. Looks like a Colt Carbine collapsible stock. The sling must come with a rail swivel. You attach the swivel, then attach the sling like the rear is shown, both the front buckle and back are the same. Then you cut with a knife the excess length then melt the end with a match to keep it from shreading. It does indeed have a bayonet lug, but it's hidden under the rail. OP, the work and money that'd be required for a bayonet isn't worth it. But that's fine because you don't really need one. That's a fine rifle, learn it and enjoy it ETA: It requires a rail mounted adapter to use your single, Colt uses a standard accessory package for all their models, but since yours has a rail that covers the front sight base, which is where the sling mount is normally installed, you can't use it out of the package. Try shoestring until you get a rail mounted adapter. |
