| Hello, I'm new to the forum. I was looking into building my own AR (still am). I just bought a new Colt LE Carbine at WalMart of all places! The guy said they get one at time (they never know when) and they always sell the same day. Mine was placed on display before noon, I bought it before 5:00. Needless to say I'm thrilled. They also carry S&W, SIG, and Bushmaster ARs, although availability is always hit and miss. WalMart, who would have thought? |

I live in one of, if not the most gun friendly states...Virginia. But in my yankee-ass, liberal snob, bitch region(Northern, VA), Wal-marts do not carry guns until I drive about 60 miles south. Maybe it's a good thing, because I'd be broke buying them.
Oh, and this thread is worthless without pics |

I certainly don't want a worthless thread. : - ) How do I post a pic?
I'm by no means a WalMart fan, in my town they are kind of like a necessary evil. I do look at everything I purchase, no matter what, to see where it is made. Sometimes there is no choice but to buy from our trusty friend China, but people would be surprised that very often there are choices. And often the American made product is no more expensive. What a difference it would make if everyone would look where something is made before purchase. The other day I bought a thumb drive, two choices, China and S. Korea. Korea is an ally so I bought their product. It's kind of sad that when we finally have to fight China they will be using weapons purchased with American money. I normally don't buy guns at WalMart, but the Colt was: number one available, and two, at $1097.00 before tax I don't see any way to beat that price. I have been wanting to replace my Mini-14 for some time with an AR, and I messed around and waited. I still would like to build a really nice AR at some point but I wanted a nice AR now in case things get ugly. I pray they don't. Thanks for making me feel welcome. |
| I live in Md so not so lucky. The two closest Walmarts to me used to sell guns and ammo, but about 3 yrs ago both stopped. My daughter and son in law live in Va though, and I was amazed at our last visit. There was a Sig and a Bushmaster AR in their Walmart when we went to buy some ammo on the way to the range. Don't remember exact models but both prices were in the slightly <$900 range. Geeeez, I need to move. |

Here's a link on how to post pics here: http://www.ar15.com/content/help/help.html?id=6 Congrats on your first and a Colt AR, my first one was also a Colt it was the original new model SP1 rifle 41 years ago, I paid $200 back then but translated to today's dollars it's about $1,100 which are most basic Colt models go for these days. My local Wally World only had Sig AR but also carries Colt LE6920 carbines and also Windham now. Currently I have only 7 AR (not as many as some members here) 5 of them are Colt, two 6920 M4 carbines, two 6721 HBAR carbines, one Match Target 20" A2 rifle, a LMT M4 carbine and a RRA A4 9mm carbine. Welcome to the Black Rifle Disease club, now it's time for you to build your second AR. |

Don't worry about the pic, like these guys haven't seen a 1000 Colts before....you made a great choice..now let us know how it shoots. |

Now that is funny. Congrats on the Colt purchase and welcome to the club. Just remember the Lay's Potato Chip commercials of old - you can't eat just one. Goes with AR's - you can't own just one. |

I'm already dreaming of build an A2 style with a 20" barrel and green furniture. I have a Mini-14 (I know, I know) that I need to sell first if I can figure out how much its worth. Its stainless with a green laminated stock and factory flash supressor. I bought it new during the assault weapons ban and the dealer said they made a 1000 of them. I've never seen another one like it and I hope its collectable. |
