I'm planning to purchase a Colt LE6940 in the next few weeks. Can someone tell me the barrel diameter. I called Colt and the CS guy on the phone had no clue. The reason for the question is that I want to change out the gas block on it and get rid of the front sight. I'm planning to replace it with a .625 diameter PRI gas block.
Thanks.

You will need to use a .75 gas block.  Same barrel profile as on a 6920, or basic M4 profile.

That front sight is better than you may think. It stays put yet is easy to fold out of the way when you want to do so.

Let me know if you want to sell it when you take it off.

If h53 bails I'd be interested in buying it.

this.

I had a very nice 6940 upper and regret selling it.

Try shooting it a bit. You may  like it.
