ok, first,
Mods, please forgive if this has been done.  I buried myself in the FAQ, but could not get the info I need.

Of all the triggers out there, who has the best drop in military spec style trigger.  I am not talking about the high end jobs, or even the NM triggers, just a plain old trigger.

Who is offering the best trigger out there?

Just purchased a LPK from Palmetto, and while it's not bad, it not great.
If you were going to build, mil-spec, which trigger would you use and why?

Thank you in advance.

I would use a Colt LPK. I have them in all my carbines and my rifle. The QC is outstanding

Yes
.154 is Mil standard
Two of my Colts are .154
The other two Colt are .170, and I have a supply of spare parts for those.

If you want a very nice mil spec trigger you are in luck. These have just be released, made by geissle and they are getting good reviews.

stag.

best standard cheapy trigger set up i've come across. smooths out nicely after breaking in. always has a crisp clean break and just feels better to me than other standard trigger kits.

thank you fellas.

I did a "non-break-the-bank build" on a Superior arms lower, and used that Palmetto kit.  The Superior lower comes with the set screw installed in the grip lug, so it can be adjusted for take up.  I stoned the flats with a ceramic stone to take out the grit, THEN somone told me about the ALG triggers.  Thank you for the links..
Currently running RRA NM triggers in my two other AR's, and I like them, but wanted to try a standard in this one.
My next will be built on a NovesKe Chainsaw, so I am considering all the options to make this one "better" than my others.  I've built the upper for it, and as of this date, I'm just trying to set my course for the lower's direction.

Thanks again.

i agree with this also, for stock triggers that are pretty crisp and break in very well, Stag/CMT, Daniel Defense, J&T all have great triggers for "stock" out of the LPK bag.

i have read nothing but positive things about the Geissele combat and standard triggers, i have been able to pull the trigger on the combat trigger kit, even with very few rounds on it it was VERY crisp. i would recommend these over the Spikes enhanced trigger, which i personaly have.

Well I went ahead and ordered the ALG QMS trigger.
Going to install it next weekend, as this one is frantic.  I'll let you know the skinny of how it performs.

I put some valve grinding compound on the mating points of the trigger and hammer, and then "dry fire" the rifle about 15 times, making sure to catch the hammer before it hits the receiver. I then clean out the valve compound, and put BOM metal polishing compound on the surfaces, and do the same thing about 20-30 times, clean it out, and put a dab of grease on the surfaces and see how good it feels. Makes the triggers creep free, and very smooth. I have about 3k rounds through one of the rifles I did this to, and folks who shoot it want to know whose trigger I installed in it.

Well the QMS trigger is awesome.  Smooth, clean breaking and zero grit/creep feeling.  I like it so much I plan on replacing a Palmetto trigger in one AR, and a RRA 2 stage NM trigger in another.  If the QMS is this nice, I can only imagine what the ACT must feel like.

I wouldn't say the ACT is all that great honestly.  Better than some stock mil-spec triggers, sure, but not all or maybe slightly.

For a standard LPK I went with the Palmetto State Armory GEN. 2. Quite good for a standard LPK. A little bit of polishing on the engagement surfaces with some 2000 grit paper smoothed things up quite nicely!

I've found moly grease and JP yellow springs to be the best stock trigger upgrade. After that, just spend the $200 on a high-end trigger.

ALG triggers are not great, they just don't suck. They're a stock trigger that doesn't suck. That's it.

Worse triggers of all my AR's.  Best build kit triggers I have come across is CMT/Stag.
