I just bought my first AR. I ended up with a CMMG with a 16 bull barrel. I put a Nikon p223 3-9x40 scope on it also. I'm looking for accuracy. Does anyone have any suggestions on ammo? Thanks

Anything Black Hills, Hornady TAP or Steel Match are top of my list. I like PPU Match 69gr too. Some will argue that it is not match quality, but it has always done me right when zeroing my rifle. I find it very consistent.
I'm not sure which is a better value. I'd get a few boxes of each and see what works for you and your new rifle. Shoot straight, be safe and have fun!! Welcome to the BRD...your wallet will soon hate you! |

That Nikon looks like a real nice scope, and reasonably priced, too.
Sportsman's guide has the Hornady TAP in 75 grain, should be accurate ammo in 1:7 or 1:9 barrels. Been looking for the 77 grain Black Hills ammo, none of the retailers I've found online have any. I bought some of the Hornady just for proofing my uppers, it's too expensive to shoot in any volume (around $1/round). Joe |
