Hi All:

Like many others, I'm new to AR. One thing I've already decided is to buy my first AR as suppose to building my own. I'm actually thinking of these 3 (so far) entry level AR15's.

1. Del-Ton Echo 316
2. Bushmaster Carbine 15 ORC
3. S&W M&P15 Sport

That's pretty much my budget for now: $700 - $900. Let me know your thoughts on these 3 AR's. So far I like all 3 of these from what I know about them. I'm leaning more towards the DTI and Bushmaster because I noticed that the S&W dosen't come with a ejection port cover and forward assist.

Thank you.

If that's your budget, check out Palmetto State Armory as well.  They make really nice-quality stuff, and get positive reviews.  I have a PSA upper on mine, and I love it.  For the price, I had to get it!

+1 colt and PSA

my local walmart has a 6920 LE for $1093 plus taxes. i personally wouldn't own a bushmaster. also if you dont mind a wait spikes has some really great basic rifles in the mid $800 range.
im waiting on my order from spike cant wait.

http://www.spikestactical.com/new/z/st15-16-midlength-le-carbine-p-443.html they have a carbine length for 10 bucks less.

also if its just going to be a range gun and just a toy to play with and weekend shoot you dont really need a forward assist or the port cover. there nice to have but not a dire need if thats all its going to be used for

I got the M&P Sport for my first AR about 5 months ago and I love it.  Accurate and dependable so far.  S&W also had a $100 rebate for LEO and .mil so in the end the rifle only cost me $600.  That is until I added a new stock, pistol grip, fore grip, quad rail and so on

If were going low budget I'd probably grab a spikes lower or sign up for an email on this:

http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F1SASL&name=Surplus+Arms+%26+Ammo+LOW15+Stripped+AR+Lower+Receiver&groupid=214

or this

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/firearms/receivers/psa-ar15-lower.html

And then grab this with an MOE kit upgrade when they are back in stock

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/rifle-kits/16-m4-cmv-standard-rifle-kit.html

this kit usually is under $500

Im not on the colt band wagon. With that being said I'd go PSA even though it's not on your list. They use FN barrels which are pretty good barrels! Now, you will have the extra $200 dollars to by ammo to shoot and buy a couple of steaks for dinner! Just my $.02!

If you are willing to spend $900, then get a PSA and a used Aimpoint.

I'm enjoying my Stag.  I bought the model 1 about three weeks ago.  No issues so far with 200 downrange.

I think from your three, choose SW.

have you considered a rock river arms elite operator 2..its like 950 and is a great rifle if not..id go with the bushmaster

I built a rifle off of a Del-ton complete upper and so far its been great.  Have a little over 1000 rounds of cheapo steel case wolf ammo through it with 100% reliability.  If a rifle can eat that stuff its will eat anything haha.

this.. ditch the colt idea and get a spikes.  Don't buy into the colt hype. there are other brands just as good and better for the price.

So I go into Turners yesterday to pick up my M&P 15 Sport after 10 days DROS period. The sales guy tells me, that they don't have it, apparently there was a glitch in their computer - The firearm was shipped to a different store and SOLD!! WHAT THE !@#$%^&*()_!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. They told me the serial # doesn't get reported or documented for long guns on DOJ paper work. I had bought over 1000 rounds of ammo ready to rock and load this weekend....now I got 1000 rounds of ammo......apparently I'll be shooting that out of my ass!!. I talked to the manager and told him, that he had to do something to make it up, ....this was totally unacceptable.

He offered to sell me a another $699 DPMS riffle for $100 less; I SAID NO. Conner of my eye I caught another M&P 15 (OR Model $999). At this point I didn't care and asked to make that happen. With $300 difference, we ended up splitting the difference...ended up walking out of there with M&P 15 OR and a box of FREE PMC 20rounds of ammo for $842.

I'm happy I have a riffle to shoot this weekend. Just worried about that freakin serial # from the other riffle which they sold to someone else. Has this ever happed to anyone else? CRAZY!!
