Hey guys,
I need help picking out a barrel for an AR build that I'm doing. I am building a "all purpose" rifle, something that is small and light but accurate enough to hit something from a distance of 300 yards or so. I am planning on 16" barrel, but not quite sure on which. I was originally thinking of a .223 Wylde barrel because of the supposed accuracy improvement with 5.56 (anyone have any thoughts?) and Rainier finally has the 16" Match available, but I'm also looking at a 16" CHF barrel by Spikes and PSA made by FN. What would you guys do? Any thoughts? Suggestions? |
This will get some but RRA barrels are good shooters. Don't pass them up, for the money they are hard to beat. As for the wylde issue, its hard to say if they are really better because your not comparing the same exact barrel. I will say that in my experience they don't shoot any one type of ammo better but will shoot (most ammo) better overall.

Of those three, if you want long range accuracy I would def want the Wylde chamber. I would go with the Rainier. They also have a 90 days no questions asked warranty.
Plus they have that $7.95 flat rate shipping. That gets me everytime...
You could even look at the 'select' grade from Rainier too. I have a barrel made by the same manufacturer they're using, BHW. 3P polygonal rifling. Shoots well. |
