I just bought a 3# Timney trigger for my S&W MP 15 as the trigger pull was just to much for me.  How much of a problem is it to assemble it in to my rifle?  Can I do it or should I take it to a gunsmith.  It looks like all you do is too drive two pins out and then use the same pins to remount the Timney.  I sure would appreciate some advice from someone who has done this before.

Not hard to do at all. Just follow directions.

I have installed several of them. It's really quite simple. Remove your pistol grip (being careful not to lose the selector switch spring and detent). Remove you selector switch. Push out your hammer pin and trigger pin, and remove the trigger group. Drop in the Timney and re-install both pins. Make sure the pins are even on both sides of the lower, and tighten both set screws on the Timney trigger housing until the trigger housing is snug. Re-install your selector switch, detent, spring, and pistol grip. Now the only tricky part is to move the legs of the hammer spring out of the way and getting the 'anti walk-back' set screws started, and tightened on top of the other two trigger housing set screws. I use a dental pick for this. Start to finish it should take about 20 minutes. I have a #3 Skeletonized Timney in my R-15 VTR Predetor and love it, Good luck.

Not hard at all. Be carefull with the very small locking set screws. Otherwise not hard.

This.  For me, the hardest part of the install was driving to the hardware store for a tiny set screw to replace the one I dropped and couldn't find

Timney used to be the best value in drop in triggers before the price hikes.  For what you pay for one now I'd go with a Geiselle, unless you're dead set on a single stage.

I have had Timney's on my FN 30-06 for many years and kinda like them.  I have already bought and paid for it so I can't change.  Thanks guys for all the quick answers.

I had to take some material off the back of the safety contact area so I could get my safety selector back in place. No biggie. Used a file and just took off the anodizing. Not hardened back there, so shouldnt be any issues. Trigger works great. Light and crisp.
