Does the military contract number on a magazine wrapper of a USGI mag include some type of date code? Are post ban mags supposed to be date stamped?
I have several mags which I belive are pre 94, they have no date stamped on them and were aquired during the ban. Only one has a date written in maker on the wrapper, looks like the contract was 9/90. Mag dated 6/91.. Any info would be appreciated. |

I'm no expert but I'm always on the hunt for preban mags. If you remove the floor plate and mag spring, there should be code numbers on the inside of the mag. For instance, a preban Colt mag should have a letter on one side for the decade of manufacture and numbers 01-09 for the year on the other side.
K= 1970's 05= 5th yr of 70's 1975 Different manufactures may use their own codes. I have several 1991 prebans with a 91' stamped on the inside. |
