I just finished building an ar, using magpul, spikes lower, and a daniel defense complete v5 upper. I find myself wanting to buy another. I am looking at a colt mt6731. As much as I want it, I keep thinking I have one 5.56/.223 and another would be a waste. I originally wanted another, but in a 6.8 spc. Issue I am having is, that since I just went thru the ffl and the 7-10 day wait as marylands law, I cant try for another for a month. The colt is hbar ( 16 inch) with a fixed stock, which makes it unregulated. I cant seem to find a 6.8 that is unregulated in the ar platform. A month wait wouldnt be a problem, but I want to buy now, before the wife changes her mind, or spends my cash lol. I know I am asking the wrong crowd, but can one have too many 5.56/.223's? lol

Can't you just buy the colt, then buy an upper to change your cal? Or is that illegal in MD?

I dont think its legal. I was told buy the shops that even swapping to a collapsable stock may be illegal, but I will.

Friend, never listen to gun store experts.  What they told you is some wild fantasy.  They are clueless.  OK, I have a 6.8 I would be willing to let you shoot.  Where in MD are you?  Near FreeState gun range?

IMHO, build what you want.  I am getting with a few MD HTF guys and milling some 80% lowers to avoid all the BS waiting and MSP nonsense.

Build a stripped lower (Gun Connection will transfer one for $30), buy an upper and next time some gun store expert tells you something, ask what the specific source is or better yet, just walk out.  You simply can not educate a misinformed FFL.  They just get mad they are proved wrong and give you shitty prices.  IM me

ETA: Please do us all a favor and name the shop.  Swapping an upper or a stock is not illegal, has never been illegal (outside NFA considerations) and these guys should stick to selling guns instead of being sidewalk lawyers.

Sent ya a message.... As I said, I think I would swap stocks anyways. I believe ( from what I was searching ) that model colt even has "hbar" on the magwell.
