| It's the little things in life. Built my first lower tonight - big mistake... that hour was the most fun I've had all month!! Now, I'm well and truly addicted. Despite not owning the proper tools, such a single roll pin punch, it came together beautifully without a scratch using the the ar15.com guide (although, I'll admit hammering in the pin for the bolt catch assembly was a bit of a challenge). It was a PSA lower and PSA LPK and looks great. Before this I never thought I would own anything other than a Colt (family ties to the company) and for those interested, I compared it side-by-side to my two Colt lowers afterwards. While to my novice eyes, the Colt LPK looks to be better quality (heavier springs and a bit smoother) I would highly recommend the PSA to anyone building on a budget. For the purpose of this rifle, I couldn't justify the extra $300 to spring for another Colt lower and now not regretting it - keeping in mind I've already got the Colts as my primary rifles. I'm still waiting for the stock to arrive, but will post pictures of the complete rifle as soon as it does. Couldn't be happier or more excited about it! |
