Hey guys i just bought my first ar 15. Its a BCM and when i got it it was rock solid. After shooting it about 50 times and cleaning it, I noticed that when i shook the gun something sounded real lose. Read other places that it was the buffer tube, but took off the lower and shook the upper and it still rattled quite a bit. Is this normal? I think that it is either the bolt carrier group rattleing inside the upper or the bolt rattleing inside the bolt carrier group. i am a little concerned because it didnt do this when i got it, is this normal break in? thanks for the help guys

the firing pins are the floating type in AR's. It should'nt be loud though. Remove your carrier group and CH. shake your upper there should be no noise. Now compress your bolthead into battery position in the carrier and shake it the pin moves a small amount.

the buffer tube should not be loose!

I see this is your 1st. post.

I'm not sure if you stripped your carrier group when cleaning your rifle? you did'nt forget to install the firing pin retainer?

That's all I can think of?

If the upper has regular handguards it could be possible that it is a heat shield that has came loose.
