| .I have a stag with a delta ring and standard forend. I have an ARMs Inc. rail system to put on. I have to remove the Delta ring to put it on. My question is, Can I dremal cut the delta ring off I have no need for it looks like I could cut the plastic off and then just bend the spring off and the remove the clip. It looks like I can but I don’t know. I have never removed a barrel so I hope this could work. Any thoughts thanks |

I have cut many delta rings off very easy. Make sure before you start to cut locate an area of the delta ring ( as mentioned above 3 and 9 o' clock ). Look at the barrel nut in relation to the delta ring mark a spot on the delta ring in between the teeth of the barrel nut so you don't end up cutting a tooth off or cutting into the barrel nut and weakening it.
Cut as close as you can to the receiver without cutting into it, then place a flat head screw driver into the groove you just cut. Tap down on the screw driver with a small hammer and the delta ring should break away. When you get to the weld spring and retaining ring I use tin snips and a flat head screw driver to pry them off. Cut the weld spring in a couple of areas to weaken it then use a good set of needle nose pliers and pry it off then repeat for the retaining ring. Something that helps cut down on shavings getting all over your upper. You can use news paper to wrap around the barrel and use masking tape to hold it place. Blue painters masking tape the entire upper receiver. Mask as close to the area your cutting around, then use an air compressor to blow of the shavings and remove masking tape and paper. Little more work, but less clean up at the end. |
