Is there any reason/disadvantages/damage why I shouldn't shoot .22 with an AR and a conversion kit?

Accuracy will not be as good as with a dedicated .22 upper.
.22 is dirty. I always recommend using copper wash ammo like the Winchester 555 or Federal 550 bulk sold at Walmart.
I fire 300-500 rounds, remove the .22 BCG, pull a boresnake through the barrel.
Install the 5.56 BCG and fire 3 rounds. It will blow the gunk out of the gas system.
Clean properly when you get the chance.
Never had any issues.

I recommend the stainless conversion from CMMG. It's reliable, stronger than the parkerized steel, smoother, uses less lube, stays cleaner longer, and is easier to clean.

Ive used my CMMG kit for years. Took forever to break in but is 100% now with Federal bulk 550 packs from wallyworld. My accuracy at 30 yards is 2" if i do my part BUT I get carried away and shoot as fast as I can and end up with a 4" cluster. If they had the stainless when I bought id have had it. Mine is parked. I put my5.56 bolt back in and fire a few rounds of centerfire then just clean as normal. I have a 1/9" twist that I use mine in. I have 1/7" gun that I don't use it in. Rimfire. 22 uses a 1/16" twist so 1/9" over stabilizes no use going faster withthe. 22lr.,.......Mike

No disadvantages.  Do it.  My CMMG conversions, and my brothers, and my buddy's are all perfect.  Do it.
