I have an 18" rifle length gas system AR I am building.  I have an ACE Skeleton stock on it.  I will be putting a David Tubbs buffer spring in it.  This will be my 3 gun rifle.  I will mainly be shooting 55 gr. fmj or softpoints in it.  It's chambered in 223 wylde.  Would a standard rifle buffer do the job?  Or what are the other options?  I'm thinking about putting a Kies lo pro adj. gas block on it as well.

Thanks.

I'll vote for standard, maybe H but probably unnecessary.

See how it runs with a standard and with an H.
If it is reliable with an H I would use that for a little softer recoil.

Is the ACE stock their full size, or their Carbine Length Model?

If it is their Full Size (IOW, the standard rifle length), then use the standard rifle buffer.

Also with the Tubb spring, you might have to cut some coils for it to work effectively. Then again, you might not.

With a rifle length gas system you just use the standard rifle length buffer. I would personally stay away from adj. gas blocks and go with a Colt spring. With the rifle length buffer system you really do not need any adjustments or special buffer parts.

A rifle length gas system can run fine with carbine-length buffers.  However, if he's running a rifle-length receiver extension, then he'll need a rifle-length buffer and spring.

The Canadian uses a 20" upper with a carbine-length receiver extension called the C7A2, made by Colt Canada.  IIRC, they use the H2.

I have an 18" gun with rifle-length gas and a carbine-length receiver extension.  I use an H buffer.
