Im just about to have a custom AR put together and was wondering if there are any opinions on the optimal barrel length for accuracy?

I can go for 20", 22", 24" and possibly 26",  but I also dont want it to look too weird, its still got to have a traditional AR look to it. I will be putting on a 14" railed forend so that I think should balance out the gun a bit if I go for a longer length barrel.

Anyone got any opinions (Or better still photos of their own guns with long barrels).

Regards  Mac

I should have said, as IM in the UK this AR will be manually operated so basically its bolt action. Not sure if that ads much to accuracy or not over a traditional semi auto.

Barrel length doesn't have a whole lot to do with accuracy. It does have a lot to do with velocity. The shorter length you go the less velocity the bullet will have, so in a way that will dictate how much zip the round will have on it at longer ranges which can affect accuracy.
