Starting welding classes next semester. Ive been a machinist for 15+ years. Would like to own my own business some day.
Local college offers a degree program and a variety of AWS Certifications. Always wanted to learn but Im not sure I would want to do it as a full time job. ARFCOM Welders. Am I making a bad decision? Tell me about the welding labor market. |

I think it is a very good skill. Welders can make decent money, depends what your into. Most welders that make really good money do alot of original Fab work, like for Trucks, cars, race cars and other things. And if you get into industry welding, then your talking big money , but most of that is specialized TIG.
