Okay, I know this is probably asked every other day.

New to AR's and am looking to get something durable, reliable. I dont yet want to get a complete rifle because winter is coming up, have to watch the money a little closer. So Im going to get a lower first.

What would be the best way to go? Not looking for cheap, but am looking for reliability, with resale in mind.

Am thinking LMT, but let me know what you guys think.

Thanks.

LMT is good to go.  Do not worry about resale too much you will not want to let it go.

Spikes Tactical, LMT, BCM, and Daniel Defense are about midrange on price and are all good to go.

Now if you wanted to build your lower, AIM surplus has stripped Spikes Tactical lowers for $69 shipped. The only tools you actually need to do the build are a lower vise and a castle nut wrench (if looking at a carbine stock). Head on over to the Build It Yourself section of the forum for some great advice, and don't forget to check the stickies!

I'd probably buy my first if I were you, to get a feel of the rifle before you build.

I bought a SR-15 from Midwest Gun Exchange, and I noticed it had a booklet advertising Colt 6920s for around $1000. I already have one, but thought about buying another. Thats an amazing price from where they were a few years ago, and MGE has been great to deal with in the two guns I've bought from them, (both SR15) the lowest price I've seen anywhere.

The 6920 is kinda the gold standard by which other rifles are judged, and will probably have the highest resale value should you choose to. Thats what I would get anyway.
