I have a 16" CAR heavy barrel that has a YHM free float forearm and a standard gas block sight base with top rail.  I've recently decided that less is more and want to get away from the railed forearm in favor of something like a Magpul MOE handguard but I want an A2 front sight base.  My barrel isn't reemed for taper pins so I guess I would need either a clamp-on sight base or something with set screws.  The problem is I haven't had a lot of luck finding much in the way of these.  What are some good sites to get this type of part from?  Can I switch from a carbine to mid-length handguard?  What exactly are my options?  I looked over Brownell's, Numrich, and Midway but didn't come up with much.

I didn't want to deal with drilling for taper pins either, I picked up my clamp-on FSB from riflegear.com. I'd post a link to it for you if I weren't on my phone

I suppose you could get just a plain old FSB that was meant for taper pins, but drill it for a set screw. Would have to dimple the barrel though if it doesn't have a dimple there already.
