First and by far most important upgrade on the L2 will be a new, much lighter trigger.  I prefer 2.5lbs on my work & predator/varmint rifles and 3lbs on my medium/big game hunting riflres.  I want a drop- in trigger group type trigger, so it looks like a CMC or Timney have the initial lead.

Been over 30 years since I serviced AR platforms beyond field stripping to clean them.   Long ago I spent roughly a year as NCOIC of the 1st MP Co Arms Room so even though my memory is a little fuzzy, I do know my way around their innardfs.  I think it will come back quickly once I have the rifle in my hands at my work bench.

So I'm looking for input from those who have installed & shot both the CMC and Timney triggers.  Pros, cons, person opinion likes/dislikes.  The more information I have, the better decision I can make.  Right now I'm leaning toward the non-adjustable 3 lbs CMC...
Thanks in Advance

I have shot both and own 2 timneys. The 3lb triggers are too light for me on an AR. Both of mine are 4lb timneys. They are easy to install, safe, and nice for a long range/precision rifle.

Go CMC

Timney is more or less a Copy of a CMC.

CMC Started the Drop in AR trigger, and has been doing it the longest.

I have one of the early, triggers, still works great.

Just so you might know,, AR Gold has a licensing agreement from CMC.

I have two CMC triggers and really like them.  3+ years of use on both and no issues.

I have two 4lb. Timneys and 2 3.5lb CMCs, both are excellent triggers.

I have Timney, Geissle, CMC, and RR2Stage.

I thought my Geissele was best, until I tried a Timney.  I must say that I strongly prefer single stage triggers.  The Timney is best for feel, and pull, but I would think that the Geissele has faster lock time, but I could be wrong.  My CMC feels like a strong wind would set it off, like a 1.5lb pull, it's way too light, and even so there is a small amount of grit in the pull.

If you are a 2 stage guy, I'd say buy a Geissele SSA or SSA-E.  If you like single stage, I'd say Timney.  I was completely surprised by the quality and feel of the Timney.  I had tried one at my local store on a 9mm build they had on the wall and I loved it, I've got the 4lb as well.  It's not like my Geissele is awful, it's like comparing a BMW to Mercedes.

Timney, easy to install, and I have a shit ton of rounds on mine with no issues at all.

I have a Timney 4 LB in my AR and it's fantastic. No problem setting off 5.56 or 223 primers, they both go bang every time I pull the trigger. Timney has been making triggers for a long time also and I think they got it perfected. YMMV

Thanks for all the straight up no BS replies.  These are the kind of intell dumps I like & find most useful.

Got a call from CMC yesterday and they stepped up to the plate bigtime. my 3-3.5 lbs trigger group will arrive next week around Wed, just in time for a patrol rifle familiarization class & range session for all my uniforms that aren't on SIU (SIU operators who have qualified are individually issued a DPMS M-4).

Geissele.

A guy at the range talked endlessly about this.

I was leaning toward Timney.

Now, I don't know.

I've done one build with the Timney and two with the Geissele. For me, I guess I am just more used to the two-stage triggers so I've leaned toward the Geissele as the feel that I prefer (and what I'm most familiar with). The Timney was nice, and I'd probably be able to get used to it with time but... I really like my Geissele triggers more. YMMV
