| Putting together a Aero Precision lower and need a LPK and it is down to either a CMMG or a DPMS,both are the same price at 58.00 but anyone use either one or both and have a opinion if which to buy..I have read the DPMS may not have the best trigger pull..Thanks |

Thanks everyone, the 80.00 Daniel defense puts us
over the the budget of 180.00 by around 22.00 to build the complete lower.I realize to some that maybe 22.00 sounds frivilous but a budgets a budget I guess... Yes the Panhandle is quite a distance from us here in the east but thanks for the offer and glad to hear from a fellow Nebraskan anyway.. |

Palmetto State Armory LPK is on sale for $44.95 and prefer it to either kit you mentioned.
But if I have to chose one of the kits you listed I would go with the DPMS. At least they work correctly. I had one of those CMMG kits with the improperly drilled safety selectors. ETA: I have used a few of those DPMS LPKs, the only down side I have found is the very tight roll pins and sometimes an extra gritty trigger. |

If you just want a standard LPK I recommend (and I'll likely get slammed for it ) a Doublestar LPK. I've built with just about every LPK you can name and the DS is always the best feeling trigger of all of them. I must admit that most of my builds get a Giessele trigger so I use a lot of Armalite also (you can get it without the FCG or silly A2 grip). But on my standard builds it DS. |
| Actually I will check on the palemetto Armory ones..Cheaper is actually better..Just seemed like the two I mentioned were the lowest priced ones I could find, never knew there was a 44.00 one out there..This is just going to be a lower for my Sons Dedicated CMMG upper.Actually the place I was going to buy the kit from has a Doublestar kit for a little less too....Thanks for the leads and advice so far... |

Had 6 CMMG kits, out of 4 put together thus far, 2 have required replacement safety selectors. Have had DD kits with 0 issues. Just got in a Palmetto kit with all parts except fire control group (put in a Super Two Stage trigger). To say I am impressed with Palmetto would be an understatement, they are top notch. |

Have both. No difference to me in either. +1. I have used Armalite (multiple), DPMS (multiple), Palmetto State Armory (two), CMMG (just one), and RRA (also just one). I think that's all of them I have used? Anyway, all of them are the same except the Armalite has a super cool bolt catch that is a solid surface down the side with ridges on it (see pic below).
Also, the Armalite and Palmetto bolt catches have a straight back to them with no beveled edge. The beveled edge on the the top rear of the DPMS/RRA/etc. bolt catches make a 9mm AR bolt slip off and slam into battery if you bump the buttstock. The straight back on the Armalite and Palmetto hold the 9mm bolt much more securely. A 9mm AR bolt doesn't have the bottom lug that normally catches on the bolt catch, and the catch just slightly makes contact with the bottom of the face of the "bolt carrier." So, if you're using the kit for a 5.56/.223 build, any of them would be fine. Get what's cheapest. I have taken to getting the Palmetto ones for my last two builds because they are so cheap and well-finished. I get the kits with the MOE trigger guard and grip. Very good deal. |
| Well we went with the DPMS as it was the only one I could get locally yesterday..We got it all installed and had no problems..Could have saved about ten dollars going with the ones through the mail but we wanted to get the boys .22 dedicated upper rifle done..Have not shot it but seems to do all its suppose to so far...Thanks |
