Which do you perfer, forend vertical grip or magwell grip?

I run a vfg about 1" ahead of the magwell

I run a vertical foregrip as well.
I find myself using it as both a "wrap my hands around" grip and as a "handstop" kind of grip.
The magwell grip to me makes the gun feel off balanced - I like to grip a little further out.

I went through no less than I think 6 different vertical grips til I found one I liked (Larue FUG).
If i get into a position or am shooting it off a rest, the FUG has a quick disconnect.

I use my troy stubby grip as both a hand stop and a forward grip.

VFG to get my left arm out there.

I currently have a Magpul AFG2 that I'm on the fence about. It cocks my wrist in at a odd angle. Someone at the range theorized that it needs to be further out on the rifle but because it is a carbine it is where it is. I've never been a fan of holding the VFG in the traditional sense (grabbing it). Cupping the magwell seems very natural to me but puts the rifle off balance and can move the magazine (so I've heard). So if I can get a stubby VFG of some type and use it as a back handstop forward of the magwell that may work for me. I'm looking at the Magpul MVG as I have a MOE grip.

Gear sector vfg used as a Handstop and I have tried everything!

Out of those two choices, FVG. Especially if by "magwell grip" you're refering to that finger-grooved magwell grip contraption that people mount on their already perfectly grip-able magwells.

Vertical grips for me. I tried the AFG on a 7" 10" and 13,2" rail. It is not for me.
My VFG of choice is the FUG.

I use a Magpul RVG but I'm thinking of ditching it and just going with nothing upfront.

VFG.  After seeing a hot load explode a lower receiver, I'm not willing to put my hand on the magwell while firing.

I run the magpul VFG about 7 inches in front of the mag-well and I fell like it gives me good leverage on the weapon.

I have both the AFG1 and LaRue FUG VFG and I use the VFG if I'm mostly carrying while the AFG1 I use if I'm going to be mostly shooting than carrying.

Before I had my AFG and VFG I grip my handguard at the rearmost area of the handguard to avoid putting pressure on the barrel which could change my point of impact.

You won't regret it. I use a Magpul MVG on my MOE handguards, and I love it. It blends seamlessly with the handguard and so is perfect as a back hand-stop, which is how I typically use mine.

Anyone use that magwell grip that attaches to the HG, and hugs right up aginst the
mag well?

Looks tempting.

I think it's Command arms.

i just switched from a magwell grip to a forward grip, and im amazed at how many rounds more im putting on the steel with rapid fire from the low ready position. when i square to my target to expose my armor, its nuts, the muzzle comes up, and my elbow drops, and the dings ring almost twice as fast as before... i believe that moving that point of grip ahead, im enabling myself to control muzzle blast and rise much more effeciently.

go vertical, i started about an inch ahead of magwell, now im about 2.5 inches up....

Have and use both.  Except I don't have any kind of "mag grip" thingy... I just grip the magwell.  Truth be told I have an Arredondo magwell that kind of serves/assist that purpose.
You don't have to use one way or another, I switch back and forth depending on target distance, barricades, prone, standing etc.
