| I am new to this site and AR-15s in general, I joined this site to try learning more about AR-15s and their accessories. I currently do not own an AR-15 but plan on buying one soon. I am a left-handed shooter and am not aware of too many lefty options for AR-15s so thats why I am asking for other views and opions on how you have or would set up your AR-15 for left-hand shooting. I know stag arms make left-handed AR-15s and is most likely what I will get but have heard that either the mag release or the bolt catch are still right-handed, is that true? If so what are the options for a left-handed mag release or bolt release. Please excuse me if I do not use the proper term for a part and correct me if I don't, also pictures or links to accessories and information will be appreciated. |

Norgon is the standard for ambi mag catches. Troy and KAC also offer ambi mag catches.
Battle Arms Development is the standard for ambi safeties. Just about everyone offers an ambi safety. The bolt release is already on the left side. If anything I'd get one of the paddles that extends it straight down. I've got the MagPul BAD lever on a few and IMO it's about worthless for left hand use. |

FWIW, I am a left handed shooter and have absolutely zero problems shooting a "normal" AR. Even when burning through mags on burst, I have never had an issue. Both the mag release and the bolt catch in the regular position can be adapted for lefties, and it comes naturally for me.
The only ambi part I would suggest is the safety. I don't like moving my trigger finger up to flip the selector, so either a left handed selector or an ambi-switch would be the only thing you need in my book. |

Depending on your budget, LeftHandRifles sells left handed Noveske uppers or complete rifles. You will get a lot of rightys on here telling you don't need one, but I bought one of the Noveske leftys I just mentioned and couldn't be happier. Either way at the end of the day you can make it work no matter when you end up buying.
I guess I should also note that I purchased a Troy Ambi Mag release, Battle Arms safety, and Tactical Link BAD lever to help make the lower more ambidextrous. |
