Is there a difference in buffer spring force between the telescoping stocks used on carbines, and the longer, fixed stocks on rifles?
It occurred to me that the carbine buffer spring might be much stronger, since it has to stop bolt carrier rearward travel in a shorter distance. If there is a difference, anyone know what the spring force measures for both types? |
| I would assume the same thing......a shorter buffer tube and spring would have to be stiffer in order to handle the same forces as a longer tube and spring. Also, isn't the carbine gas system considered more 'violent' than mid or rifle length? If so, wouldn't that require a stronger spring? Don't forget that the carbine buffer is lighter than a rifle buffer. |
