First things first, new to the site and all I can say is AWESOME!  Everybody seems knowledgable and very helpful.  I just purchased my first AR15 which is a RRA LAR-15 NM A4.  This is a flat top with removable carry handle.  The zeroing directions provided with the weapon as well as all the other zeroing directions I have found on the web refer to the 8/3 mark on the rear elevation.  However there is no such mark on this style/model rear elevation, just dots.  Some of the RIBZ directions talk about a hex nut to loosen when on the 8/3 mark.  Guess what, no hex nut either.  So what should I do without the 8/3 markings and no hex nut.  I would like to zero at 50 yds, should I jjust set rear elevation to mechanical zero and go from there or does someone have better ideas/experience with this sight.

hmm, i have nothing to say to help, but i just ordered a RRA a2 detachable carry handle (gotta love their dealer pricing cuz of my $30 C&R license), i sure hope it has a traditional elevation dial and construction, 'cuz i plan on putting a RIBZ on it too...

does the nm rear have a hooded aperture?

any pictures of your particular model? I think that would help a lot to better explain the situation

there is a difference in how you zero your national match . you should go to the competition forum and do some reading and go to the rock river industry forum there is some info there .

Count your clicks. Bottom out, up one is 6/3 I believe.

Do you plan on using it for competition? If so your zero wont matter, it will constantly be changing. If you just want a 50 yard zero, take it out to the range, adjust it to where your happy and use a paint pen to mark the sights.

The detach carry handle is marked 6/3, not 8/3.  Follow the RIBZ, but you need to double up on the clicks (the detach has 1/4 minute adjustments vs. the fixed 1/2 minute clicks).

RIBZ

If you go to the bottom of the post at the link, it mentions that you double up clicks for the detach handle.

+!
Dots can be a pain,  not really suited to the casual user.

Set the FS, windage to mechanical zero and the elevation drum to zero.  Then sight in at given range.  Mark your sights and your done.

Or just send it back

Thanks to all who lent there help.  I returned to Camp Perry today and spoke with the RRA folks who are great help.  Since I will be shooting it for match purposes I will need to perform a 100 yard zero, count clicks or mark dots etc and go from there.  The sight on this weapon is intended for match shooting so it is set up a bit different.  It seems all of you who replied were right with your suggestions in one form or another.  Thanks again.
